The Mississauga Blues are proud to announce the appointments of Jill Zonneveld and Keith Wilkinson as the 2012 Senior Womens coaching staff. The Senior Women look to build on a highly successful 2011 season led by coach Matt Piemontese. The Blues are the defending 2011 Toronto Rugby Union ‘B’ Division Champions.

The Mississauga Blues Under 18 Men’s Rugby season came to an abrupt end as they lost the Toronto Rugby Union finals to the Peterborough Pagans by one score 14 – 19 on Friday 26th August. The match was held at the Markham Irish Rugby Club and Peterborough was a deserving winner on the day.

On Friday 23rd August, the Mississauga Under 18 Men’s squad defeated Lindsay RFC by 34 – 14 to win a place in the Toronto Rugby Union Cup Finals. The Mississauga squad ground down a determined Lindsay pack to reach half time with the teams tied at 7 – 7. Then, in the second period, the Blues opened up their high octane brand of Rugby to secure their place in the finals with 4 tries to 2.
Captain Jesse Kokorudz wisely chose to take the wind in the first half on a field that was dry and under blue skies. But dusk approached rapidly and the light and the wind had both died down by the second half.

The quarter finals stage of the Toronto Rugby Union’s Cup finals on Wednesday 10th August saw the Mississauga Blues Under 18 a team, without their three provincial players, defeat the Brampton Beavers by 50 points to 5. The Blues now move to the semi Finals at 7:00 pm against Lindsay on Tuesday 23rd August at Streetsville.
The Blues development team did not fare as well. Playing after the A team had won, the score could not have been closer with Saracens scoring a second half try to win the match by 0 – 5. For this squad the season is now over except for helping prepare and support the A squad.
