BLUES  U18 Boys

Mississauga Blues 1st team moved into the Plate finals with a good victory overthe Lindsay Gryphons at Streetsville School last week, but they could not findthe same form to see off a dour and defensive Scottish team in the Plate finals.Poor finishing cost the Blues this match by 14 points to 20, with the result indoubt to the final whistle.

The Scottish move on to the Ontario Regional Finals. The match was kicked off by Scottish on a sunny and hot afternoon at FletchersFields on a pitch in superb condition. Talal Chaudry refereed a good game attended by assistant referees Bob Webb and Byron Wood. From the kick, Eric Garnham took the ball well and swept the ball across the pitch. The Blues attack went all the way into the Scottish 22 m area, but with the try line beckoning and support inside, Josh Hamilton went to ground and threw the ball straight into the hands of a Scottish player. This was the first of a series of poor finishes that saw the Blues waste three or four possible tries.

BLUES 1 MOVE INTO FINALS WITH VICTORY OVER LINDSAY GRYPHONS

Mississauga Blues 1st team moved into the Plate finals on Wednesday 25th August2010, with a 22 – 14 victory over the Lindsay Gryphons at Streetsville School. It was an impressive and disciplined performance against a physical side thatdelighted in taking cheap shots and trash talking.

The match was one that saw some outstanding individual play by the Blues, butalso some excellent and exciting team and unit play. The more the game went on,the stronger the Blues became. Referee Dan Gordon kept the game flowing and theBlues were lucky to have him in charge of a match which could easily have becomea brawl if the Blues had fallen prey to retaliating for late hits, spear tackles, afterthe pass punches, trash talking and late body charges.

Mississauga Blues Sr. Women 2010

Congratulations to the Mississauga Blues senior women who captured the TRU “B” championship in Orillia on Saturday, August 21, 2010 in their inaugural season. The Blues defeated the top-ranked Orillia Warriors 14 – 13 in a hotly contested final. This was the 3rd time the same two teams have played eachother each having defeated each other on their home pitches in league competition.

The 2010 season started in earnest in late April and early May as the Blues struggled to field a viable team with many potential players still committed to school, work and travel. A league scheduled bye-week followed the Victoria Day holiday weekend allowed the squad to barely reach the minimum required number of registrants by the start of the league schedule on Saturday, May 29th, 2010.
